Tumor Staging and Regimen Selection

When staging a patient in iKnowMed, the oncologist is prompted to answer questions that are relevant to the patient’s particular cancer. Based on the information provided, iKnowMed’s robust decision-support engine can automatically recommend the stage for each patient according to AJCC staging criteria. iKnowMed then uses this information to identify appropriate regimen treatment options driven by the specified guidelines.

Oncology-Specific Regimen Library

iKnowMed provides immediate access to a robust, up-to-date library of over 400 referenced chemotherapy protocols that are based on peer-reviewed literature and FDA-approved indications. Additionally, all regimens are evaluated for their emetogenic and neutropenic fever potential and select supportive-care medications are included in the regimen.

Chemotherapy Ordering

iKnowMed automates chemotherapy dosing, ordering, and scheduling in the patient chart, making orders easier to read, manage, and administer for the infusion staff. iKnowMed also incorporates all of the documentation for admixture and administration of chemotherapy, including accounting for the supplies and drugs dispensed and any billable waste.

Nursing Documentation

With iKnowMed, nurses are able to document infusion visits electronically, view lab results in the flowsheet, document start and stop times for each medication, and easily enter patient assessment details. When changes are made to the regimen schedule due to out-of-range lab values or a scheduling conflict, iKnowMed guides the clinician through the update process, creating a complete and concise audit trail.

Charting

iKnowMed provides patient information in a single-screen view. This allows for quick referencing of the patient’s diagnosis, last visits, lab results trending, and prior and future treatment information all on the same screen.

e-Prescribing

US Oncology has contracted with DrFirst™ to provide OncologyRx® e-Prescribe, an e-Prescribing solution that is available to all iKnowMed customers. Recognizing the importance of e-Prescribing capabilities in physician practices, the iKnowMed team is also working toward full integration with OncologyRx® e-Prescribe.

Reporting Center

The iKnowMed Reporting Center harnesses clinical data captured at the point of care to generate a variety of reports designed to reveal valuable information about the practice. With this data, practice management and staff can identify trends that can be leveraged to enhance the practice’s clinical and financial performance.
